Impact Giveaways — Team Participation Terms

1. About these terms

These terms apply to teams, clubs, schools and associations applying to participate in an Impact Giveaways Team Challenge.

Each campaign must also publish its own rules identifying the organiser, opening and closing dates, eligibility requirements, prizes, selection procedures and prize-delivery arrangements. Those rules govern campaign-specific matters. Nothing in these terms overrides applicable law or participants’ statutory rights.

2. Registering your team

The person registering must:

  • Be at least 18 years old and authorised to represent the team.
  • Provide accurate team and contact information.
  • Obtain permission to use the team’s name, logo, photographs and other submitted material.
  • Provide a public website, social-media or fundraising link only where authorised to do so.

Registration is an application to participate. A team is accepted once the organiser confirms approval and includes it in the campaign. Duplicate, misleading or unauthorised applications may be declined.

Teams must notify the organiser promptly if their representative or submitted information changes.

3. How the challenge works

Supporters enter the giveaway for free and select the team they wish to support.

Each valid supporter entry contributes to that team’s total. For these terms, a valid supporter means a genuine person who meets the campaign’s eligibility requirements and completes the required entry process.

Only one entry per person per campaign counts towards a team’s supporter total. Additional accounts or repeated entries must not be used to inflate that total.

Sharing a link, viewing a page or clicking a button does not itself add a supporter. Donations and tips do not increase supporter totals or improve prize chances.

4. The three prize opportunities

Supporter prize

Eligible supporters have a chance to win the voucher or other supporter prize described in the campaign rules. This prize belongs to the selected supporter, not their chosen team.

Top-team prize

The eligible team with the highest verified supporter total at the published closing time wins the top-team prize, subject to the campaign rules.

The organiser must publish a tie-breaking procedure before the campaign opens. Share clicks and donation amounts do not break a tie.

Qualifying-team lucky draw

Teams reaching at least 100 valid supporters by the published closing time qualify for the team lucky draw.

Each qualifying team receives one chance in that draw. Support beyond 100 increases a team’s leaderboard total but does not provide additional lucky-draw chances.

The top team remains eligible for the lucky draw if it meets the qualification requirements.

Qualification does not guarantee a prize. The lucky-draw prize is a separate prize described in the campaign rules; it is not necessarily identical to the top-team prize.

5. Verification and results

Leaderboard figures are provisional until verified. Counts may change when duplicate, invalid or fraudulent entries are removed.

The organiser will verify the relevant entries and publish final results using the procedures and dates stated in the campaign rules. Lucky draws must follow the published selection and oversight arrangements.

Teams must provide reasonable information needed to verify their eligibility or receive a prize. Any claim deadline, delivery conditions or redraw procedure must be disclosed in the campaign rules.

A team may query a count or result by contacting the organiser and providing supporting information.

6. Fair participation

Teams and their representatives must not:

  • Create fictitious supporters or submit entries without the individuals’ knowledge and permission.
  • Use bots, automated entry tools, purchased entries or duplicate identities.
  • Offer payment or another reward in exchange for entries unless expressly permitted in the published campaign rules.
  • Misrepresent the prizes, organiser, sponsors or use of funds.
  • Harass supporters, send unlawful marketing messages or misuse another team’s identity.
  • Interfere with the website, entry process or another team’s participation.

Teams are responsible for their own conduct and that of representatives acting on their behalf. A team will not automatically be disqualified solely because an unrelated supporter acts improperly.

7. Direct financial support

Where available, a Support Directly button takes supporters to the destination supplied for the team or campaign.

The team must ensure that:

  • The link is accurate, secure and authorised.
  • The page clearly identifies the recipient and intended use of funds.
  • Claims about fundraising needs are truthful.
  • Funds received are used consistently with the stated purpose.
  • Relevant payment-provider requirements are followed.

Direct support is optional and is not required to enter or win.

Impact Giveaways does not collect or process payments made through these external direct-support links. Payment processing, fees and payment disputes are handled by the recipient and relevant provider, subject to applicable law.

If contributions support a shared fund—for example, an arena’s nationals fund—the destination must clearly explain this rather than imply that each selected team receives the money separately.

8. Platform tips

Supporters may be offered an optional opportunity to tip Impact Giveaways.

Tips support the platform and are separate from money contributed to a team or campaign fund. A tip does not purchase an entry, add supporters or improve anyone’s prize chances.

9. Prizes and sponsors

Prize descriptions, quantities, sponsor details and fulfilment arrangements must appear in the campaign rules.

Teams must not promise cash alternatives, additional prizes or benefits that have not been confirmed by the organiser. Illustrative images do not replace the published prize description.

A sponsor’s involvement does not entitle that sponsor to receive supporters’ personal information for marketing.

10. Team names, logos and photographs

The team grants Impact Giveaways and the campaign organiser a non-exclusive permission to use the material it submits to administer and promote that campaign and announce its results.

The team retains ownership of its material. Use outside those purposes requires a separate lawful basis or permission.

Identifiable images or information about children must not be submitted without the necessary authority and permissions. Consent to appear in optional promotional photographs must not be made a condition of receiving a prize.

11. Privacy and communications

Representative details will be used to assess registration, administer participation, communicate about the campaign and arrange prizes.

Approved team names, logos and supporter totals may be displayed publicly. Private contact details must not be published without an appropriate lawful basis.

The platform’s privacy notice must explain who handles personal information, its purposes, retention, relevant recipients and how to exercise privacy rights.

Agreeing to these terms does not automatically enrol a representative or supporter in unrelated marketing. Teams must not collect or use supporter details for marketing without a lawful basis.

12. Suspension or removal

The organiser may investigate suspected breaches and temporarily suspend affected entries or a team where reasonably necessary to protect the campaign.

Where practical, the team will receive an explanation and a reasonable opportunity to respond before a final decision.

Action must be proportionate to the evidence and may include correcting information, removing invalid entries or disqualifying a team for a material breach. Teams may request a review through the contact details above.

13. Technical issues and campaign changes

Teams should report broken links, incorrect details or suspected counting errors promptly.

Material changes, postponement or cancellation must have a legitimate reason, comply with applicable law and be communicated clearly. Changes must not be used to unfairly disadvantage participants or remove accrued rights.

The organiser will explain how any material interruption affects entries, qualification, closing dates and prizes.

14. Responsibility and complaints

Each party remains responsible for its own conduct and legal obligations. Participation does not guarantee donations, a particular level of exposure or a prize.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for fraud or gross negligence.

Complaints should first be submitted to [support email], with the campaign name, team name and relevant details. This does not prevent anyone from approaching an appropriate regulator, dispute-resolution body or court.

15. Acceptance

By submitting a registration, the representative confirms that they are authorised to act for the team and have read and accepted these terms and the applicable campaign rules.

These terms are governed by South African law.
